Commercial description: Barn Owl is a premium Ale launched in 1994. Traditionally brewed with pale, crystal and chocolate malted barley and selected Herefordshire whole hops. A copper bronzed ale with hints of toffee and vanilla. A distinctive and full flavoured premium strength bitter.
Ingredients: Pale, Crystal and Chocolate malts; Goldings, Fuggles and Northdown hops.

Real ale review:  What a beautiful looking beer. BArn Owl poured into the glass a great dark red, deep rustic brown body, clear and bright.   Toffee notes and semi-sweet molasses from the malts, quite dry in the mouth (dry, woody bitter finish) and not as smooth as the label on the bottle suggests.

I liked it greatly,  and will try more from this brewery.

Aroma: Moderate, malty and lightly sweetish aroma.

Taste: Light caramel and faint roasted malt

Strength: 4.5% ABV

Brewery: Cotleigh Brewery
